Women’s Health Talk at the 1st Colorado Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Expo
I had the privilege to be invited to speak at the 1st Colorado Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Expo sponsored by the Colorado Chinese Medicine University in Denver. Blue Dragon Herbs also had a booth and a Tincture Bar and it was super fun meeting all the attendees and the presenters.
Dr. Rui Nan and I spoke about Women’s Health and combining Western Medicine with a Chinese Medicine perspective. Dr. Nan spoke of the importance of of women keeping themselves warm, even when they are hot. We talked about how Chinese Medicine is about patterns and identifying the state of the Qi, and we see things very differently than Western medicine, but you can do both. We talked about using Chinese Medicine being helpful in all the stages of a women’s life, from childhood illnesses to puberty and menstruation, pregnancy and birth, perimenopause and aging and pain management.
The first day our booth was set up in the same room as the presenters and that was great to be able to listen to the speakers. The second day we were out in the lobby set up next to the CCMU booth and that was super fun. We had a Tincture Bar where attendees could taste-test our tinctures in small dixie cups with a splash of lemonade, organic apple juice or water. It was a great opportunity to meet other practitioners and the general public. We had lots of great questions about our products and Chinese herbal medicine in general and it was a great weekend.
The opening ceremony was a traditional dance and that was incredible. After a brief introduction in the main hall, the dancers and musicians came into the room and escorted everyone outside in front of the building where they performed an elaborate dance. The skill of the acrobats inside the dragon costumes was incredible to watch and they were all being performed by children! Truly spectacular! I’m very much looking forward to this year’s 2nd Annual TCM Expo in Denver, CO. More infomation as it become available.
